Updated October 2026 for DeepSwing 3.3 on iPhone and 1.4 on Android.
GolfFix and DeepSwing are both AI golf swing apps, both run on iPhone and Android, and both promise to tell you what is wrong with your swing. Spend a week with each and they feel quite different. GolfFix is built around a long catalog of named swing faults and a lesson for each one. DeepSwing is built around measurement: it shows you the number behind every check, measures your clubhead and ball speed from the video, records whole range sessions hands-free and now follows you onto the course.
Below is the comparison point by point, with GolfFix facts taken from its App Store listing, website and release notes as of 4 October 2026.
The short version: pick GolfFix if you want the widest list of named faults and a free tier you can live with. Pick DeepSwing if you want hard numbers, speed, hands-free practice and spoken feedback between balls. You can try DeepSwing on the App Store or Google Play with the 7-day free trial of the yearly plan.

How each app analyzes a swing
GolfFix
GolfFix says its AI identifies more than 45 swing issues, each with an explanation, a fix and a visual example. It breaks the swing into 8 steps from address to finish and shows pelvis and shoulder rotation, spine tilt and body axis for every step. Since March 2026 it draws the club trajectory and the wrist trajectory separately, colored by backswing, transition and downswing, and since September 2026 you can draw your own guide lines in the report.
The free tier runs the "Assistant Coach", the paid Advanced Plan the "Head Coach" with the deeper analysis. Each swing gets a posture score, and the monthly report shows your average and your best and worst swing.
DeepSwing
DeepSwing finds the six phases (setup, backswing, top, downswing, impact, finish), recognizes whether you filmed face-on or down-the-line, and runs more than 20 checks, about 15 per view. Where GolfFix gives you a long list of names, DeepSwing gives you the measured value and the band it should sit in. A few of the defaults:
- Tempo from setup to top versus top to impact: 2:1 to 4:1.
- Sway in the backswing: no more than 0.40 shoulder widths.
- Hip turn at the top with an iron: 25 to 45 degrees (35 to 55 with the driver).
- Loss of hip depth by the delivery position (early extension, which TPI calls one of the most common swing characteristics): no more than 0.18 shoulder widths.
- Lead elbow at impact: 150 to 190 degrees, so you can see a chicken wing as a number.
Swing plane, over the top, shaft lean and casting are measured from the detected clubhead path, not only from the body. On the swing trail the backswing is blue, the downswing yellow, the follow-through violet and the ball flight red. The Swing Score comes with a breakdown of where points were won and lost, and the analysis ties the pattern to the ball flight it usually causes. (The curve itself comes from the face-to-path relationship, so DeepSwing shows the move that tends to produce it rather than guessing a face angle.) If a phase marker sits on the wrong frame, you can drag it on iPhone and run the analysis again.
Which approach is better depends on how you learn. Some golfers like a named fault and a lesson. Others want to see that their hip depth went from 0.25 to 0.15 after a week of drills. If you are the second type, DeepSwing will suit you better. Our AI golf swing analyzer page shows the checks in more detail.
Recording on the range
GolfFix detects and records the swing from address to finish. Since June 2026 (see its version history) its Swing Recorder has an analysis mode and a self-record mode, and several swings in one session get a combined report. A Bluetooth remote works throughout the app, and recording guides (V-zone and tailbone line face-on, stance line down-the-line) help you frame the shot. Its listing names 60 fps video as a premium feature.
DeepSwing has four ways in. Record is the classic one with countdown, trim and club. Import takes any video from your photos. 1 Swing arms itself when you stand still at the ball, records, stops after the finish, trims and analyzes, with no button to press. Multi Swing keeps going for a whole bucket: every swing becomes its own entry and is analyzed in the background while you tee up the next ball. On iPhone every mode films at 120 or 240 fps, and you can start and pause sessions from the Apple Watch.
Both apps let you practice without walking back to the phone. DeepSwing's background queue is the difference you notice after 40 balls: nothing waits for the analysis, and History later shows the whole block as one session card with every score.
Feedback between balls
GolfFix's Focus Drill gives "instant analysis and feedback on every practice swing", shown on screen between swings (since version 3.14 the pause can be as short as one second). Its listing doesn't mention spoken cues.
DeepSwing's Live Coach shows a pose overlay while you swing and then speaks: the score, the most important fix with one thing to try on the next swing, and up to two short tips. It uses plain words and your real left and right from your profile, so a left-handed golfer hears the right side. On iPhone it adds haptics and can stream the session to a second iPhone or iPad for a coach or friend. Live Coach is part of DeepSwing Pro.
Swing speed
This is the clearest gap. GolfFix doesn't measure clubhead or ball speed, and its texts mention no radar or launch monitor link.
DeepSwing measures clubhead and ball speed at impact from a face-on video and keeps a speed history per club, so you can see whether that new grip cost you 3 mph. The measurement needs a high frame rate. iPhone records every mode at 120 or 240 fps, so it just works. On Android, use Record or the hands-free Speed button with the rear camera; 1 Swing, Multi Swing and Live Coach film at 60 fps there and show no speed. TrackMan explains well why speed alone doesn't make distance and how smash factor fits in, which is why DeepSwing shows ball speed next to clubhead speed. More on the golf swing speed page.
Taking it to the course
GolfFix stays on the range and in the studio (its company also sells GolfFix APEX systems for ranges, and APEX records show up in the app). It has no on-course mode.
DeepSwing 3.3 on iPhone and 1.4 on Android added golf rounds. Start a 9 or 18 hole round, find the course by GPS or type the name, and choose how many practice swings to skip. Every real shot after that is saved, analyzed in the background and filed under its hole, with a Swing Score per hole and for the round. The Lock Screen (iPhone) or a notification (Android) shows hole and score, one tap opens the camera, and the camera stays off between shots. It answers a question no range app can: does your range swing survive the course?
If that question bugs you too, get DeepSwing for iPhone or Android, film one range session with Multi Swing, then play nine holes with a round running and compare the two.
Drills and training
GolfFix is strong here. It has shot-fix lessons for slice, hook, pull, push, lost distance, skying, fat shots, topping, shank and toe strikes, plus rhythm and tempo modes and daily and monthly reports split into driver and iron. The shank and toe-strike lessons are something DeepSwing doesn't offer as such. A global community with built-in translation sits on top.
DeepSwing starts from your data. The "Most important fix" card picks the one check that costs you most, and "Train this fix" opens the drills and fitness work for it. Every check has drill videos with step-by-step instructions. The Training Coach builds a weekly plan from three questions about your goal, equipment and level, and a seven-chapter guide teaches beginners how to film and read the score. Club fitting suggestions use your measured speeds. Our golf swing drills article shows how that looks in practice.
Privacy
GolfFix lets videos sync to its servers so reports open even when the video is no longer on the phone, and its privacy information lists photos and videos among the data it collects. The App Store privacy label says identifiers and usage data are used to track you. Whether the analysis itself runs on the phone or a server is not stated.
DeepSwing analyzes on the phone, and your swing videos are not uploaded for it. A video leaves the phone only when you post it to the community or share or export it yourself.
Price
GolfFix has a free tier that still analyzes swings, with ads. The Advanced Plan costs 14.99 USD a month or 99.99 USD a year in the US App Store, 17.99 EUR or 99.99 EUR in Germany. The trial length isn't stated.
DeepSwing's recording, import and analysis are free, but since iPhone 3.3.1 and Android 1.4.1 the full results need Pro. Eurozone reference prices in October 2026: 59.99 EUR a year with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, 9.99 EUR a month, or 149.99 EUR once for Lifetime. Prices vary by country, the store shows the binding one. Per year DeepSwing costs less, and Lifetime is an option GolfFix doesn't have.
Which one should you pick?
Pick GolfFix if you want a big catalog of named faults with a lesson each, you need help with shanks or toe strikes specifically, or you want a free tier and don't mind ads.
Pick DeepSwing if you want to see the number behind each fault, want clubhead and ball speed without a radar, practice in long range sessions without touching the phone, like hearing a cue before the next ball, or want to check your swing during real rounds. It also costs less per year.
Not sure? Install DeepSwing from the App Store or Google Play, start the trial and film five face-on swings with 1 Swing. You get your score, your most important fix and your clubhead speed from the same clips. GolfFix is on the App Store and Google Play if you want to compare yourself. FAQ
Is GolfFix free?
Partly. The free "Assistant Coach" analyzes swings and shows ads. The deeper "Head Coach" analysis, the shot-fix lessons, the rhythm and tempo drill and ad-free use need the Advanced Plan.
Does GolfFix measure clubhead speed?
No, not according to its App Store, Google Play and website texts in October 2026. DeepSwing measures clubhead and ball speed from a face-on video recorded at a high frame rate.
Which app is better on Android?
Both run on Android. DeepSwing on Android has 1 Swing, Multi Swing, Live Coach, golf rounds and speed through Record or the Speed button with the rear camera. The Apple Watch app, widgets and streaming to a second device are iPhone only. More on the Android swing analyzer page.
Can I analyze an old video in DeepSwing?
Yes. Import it from your photo library, trim it, pick the club and DeepSwing runs the same analysis. For speed the clip must be face-on and filmed at 120 fps or more.
