Updated October 2026 for DeepSwing 3.3.2 on iPhone, DeepSwing 1.4.1 on Android and Swing Coach 2.4.0.
Swing Coach and DeepSwing both turn a phone on a tripod into a golf coach that watches every swing. The difference is in what happens after the swing. Swing Coach talks to you: one spoken cue, then the next ball. DeepSwing does that too, and then gives you the full picture of the swing, the drill for your biggest fault, your clubhead speed and your round.
The short version: if you own an iPhone, only want voice cues and do not mind paying $119.99 a year, Swing Coach is a very good practice partner. If you play on Android, want your analysis in a language other than English, want to see why the ball went right, or simply want to pay half, DeepSwing is the better fit.
All prices and facts below come from the App Store, Google Play and the official Swing Coach website, read on October 23, 2026. Prices vary by country.

Feedback at the range: a voice in your ear vs a voice plus the whole swing
Swing Coach is built around one idea and does it well. You tell it what you want to work on, swing plane or hip depth for example, and after every swing it says one thing. It works with AirPods and you never have to walk back to the phone. Version 2.4.0 from October 6 added a "Hand Raise Only" mode: it records every swing but only talks when you turn to the camera and raise your hand. It can also ignore practice swings and only react when a ball is hit (both from the Swing Coach App Store listing), and according to the company it needs no internet connection for the feedback.
DeepSwing's Live Coach works the same way at the range: phone on a tripod, swings are detected automatically, and you hear the key cue before your next ball. With an Apple Watch you start, pause and stop it from your wrist, and the watch taps you when a cue comes in. The difference starts when you want more than the cue. Every Live Coach swing comes back as a replay with its fixes, and every swing you save gets the full analysis.
New in 3.3.2 on iPhone is Swingplane Training. Set the phone up down the line, swing, and a slow-motion replay draws your clubhead path right away: backswing blue, downswing yellow. Pick Driver, Wood, Iron or Wedge and the ideal plane for that club sits in every replay, so you see at once whether you came over it or under it. If you practice with a coach or a friend, the new iPad mirror shows the camera picture and every replay on the iPad while the iPhone films.
What gets measured
Swing Coach lists its feedback topics on its website: setup posture, alignment, hip bend and hip depth, knee bend, hand position and stance width at address. Down the line it covers swing plane, spine stability, head, hip depth, flying elbow and trail knee. Face-on it covers shaft lean, club release, spine tilt, head and the lead side. Since 2.4.0 it also measures your low point face-on and, when it sees a ball, measures shaft lean and the swing plane target relative to that ball. That is a solid list, and the ball-relative part is a smart idea.
DeepSwing splits every swing into six phases (setup, backswing, top, downswing, impact, finish), finds the view by itself and runs 27 checks in the current iPhone version. Swing plane, over the top, shaft lean and casting are measured from the detected clubhead path, not only from your body. The result is a Swing Score with a breakdown that shows where you win and lose points, and one fix at the top.
What we like most is that the numbers are concrete. Lead arm against the swing plane at the top: within 5 degrees. Flying elbow: the trail upper arm no more than 65 degrees from the spine. Tempo from setup to top against top to impact: 2:1 to 4:1, around 3:1 is typical. If you have read about early extension or a chicken wing on the TPI site, DeepSwing tells you how far your swing is from the default band, and it links the fault to the ball flight it usually causes: slice, hook, push, pull, fat or thin.
What changed in the DeepSwing analysis with 3.3.2
- The backswing and downswing markers sit exactly where your wrists cross the hip line, and every check is measured without delay.
- A narrow green band shows how far above or below the plane your clubhead may travel, on the way back and on the way down.
- Down the line, a blue box shows where your hands should be at the top.
- The clubhead trail no longer jumps to clocks, lamps or cables in the background.
- A flip now fails the shaft lean check, and tempo counts from your real takeaway.
If that sounds like your kind of practice, the quickest test is one bucket. Get DeepSwing for iPhone or Android, film five 7-irons face-on with 1 Swing and open your most important fix. The yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial.
Android: the biggest difference
This one is simple. Swing Coach is not available on Android. On its Android page the company writes that it has hit hardware limits on the most common Android phones and has "temporarily paused Android development". You can join a waitlist. For the iPhone it recommends an iPhone 14 Pro or newer for the best results.
DeepSwing runs on Android 10 or later with the same analysis as on iPhone, Live Coach, golf rounds and the training plan. Speed needs a high frame rate, so on Android it is measured in Record with the rear camera at 120 or 240 fps (240 in good light). If someone in your group plays on Android, DeepSwing is the app you can both use and compare swings with.
Speed, rounds and everything around the swing
DeepSwing measures clubhead and ball speed at impact from a face-on slow-motion video, no radar, and keeps a speed history per club. Nothing in the Swing Coach listing or on its website mentions speed.
The same goes for the course. In DeepSwing you start a 9- or 18-hole round, find the course by GPS and tell DeepSwing how many practice swings to skip (up to five). The next swing is your shot: it is saved, analyzed in the background and assigned to the hole, so you see a Swing Score per hole and per round. On iPhone the round sits on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, and the Apple Watch moves you to the next hole. Swing Coach says you can use it "on the course", but its listing mentions no round mode.
Around that, DeepSwing has a weekly training plan from three questions, drill videos with steps for every check, golf fitness for common aches, side-by-side compare of two swings and slow-motion overlay exports with lines and angles for your coach. Swing Coach has something DeepSwing does not: video lessons from well-known YouTube coaches such as Danny Maude and Chris Ryan, matched to the issue it finds. If you already follow one of them, that is a real plus.
Price: what a year costs
| US App Store, October 23, 2026 | Swing Coach | DeepSwing Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly | $14.99 | $9.99 |
| Yearly | $119.99 | $59.99, 7-day free trial for new subscribers |
| One-time | none | $149.99 lifetime |
| Three years on the yearly plan | $359.97 | $179.97 |
DeepSwing costs half per year, and the lifetime price is about what Swing Coach charges for 15 months. Pay once and the swing analysis is yours, with no renewal to think about. Both apps bill through Apple, DeepSwing on Android through Google Play. Whichever you pick, you can cancel any time in your Apple or Google Play subscriptions.
Privacy
Both apps analyze your swing on the phone. In DeepSwing your swing videos are not uploaded for the analysis; they only leave the phone if you post them to the community or share or export them yourself. Swing Coach keeps recordings on the device too, but its privacy policy says numeric swing measurements and key swing positions are stored in Google Cloud "whenever you record a swing, whether or not Sync Swings is enabled", and for eligible US users a "Help Improve Swing Coach" upload may be on by default. Worth a look in the settings if that matters to you.
Where Swing Coach is the better pick
We would not tell everyone to switch. Swing Coach has a big, happy user base: 4.9 stars from 3,400 ratings on the US App Store on October 23, 2026. Its interface is calm and voice first, and "Hand Raise Only" is a clever answer to a phone that talks too much. If you practice on an iPhone, only want one cue per ball and like the YouTube coaches inside the app, it is a fine choice.
Where DeepSwing is clearly ahead
DeepSwing is the one to pick if any of these is true for you. You or your playing partners use Android. You want the app in German, Japanese, Spanish or 15 other languages. You want to see the whole swing (phases, 27 checks, clubhead path, Swing Score) and not only hear about it. You want your clubhead and ball speed without a radar, your swing tracked through a real round, or an Apple Watch on your wrist that runs the session. Or you want to pay $59.99 a year instead of $119.99, or once.
Try it on your next range visit: DeepSwing for iPhone or DeepSwing for Android. Start Live Coach, hit ten balls and read the replay of your best one.
New in DeepSwing 3.4: the launch monitor
DeepSwing 3.4 adds a camera launch monitor. You put your iPhone on a tripod next to the ball and hit real shots, indoors or at the range. For every shot you get ball speed, launch angle, direction, carry and total distance, plus club speed when the camera sees the club. The shots fly on a 3D driving range or on full 18-hole courses, and you can put the range on an iPad, a Mac, a TV or a projector, or connect to GSPro.
It comes with 5 free shots every week and its own plan; the swing analysis stays in DeepSwing Pro, and a Complete plan covers both. Since October 31, 2026 it is live on iPhone in the App Store, and the Android version follows as an update: get the DeepSwing launch monitor. The Swing Coach listing mentions no launch monitor.

FAQ
Is there a Swing Coach app for Android?
No. As of October 2026 Swing Coach is iPhone only, and its maker has paused Android development. DeepSwing is the closest alternative on Android: Live Coach with spoken cues, the full swing analysis and golf rounds on Android 10 or later.
Is Swing Coach free?
You can download Swing Coach and try it free. To keep using it, the US App Store lists $14.99 a month or $119.99 a year (October 23, 2026). There is no one-time purchase.
Which is cheaper, Swing Coach or DeepSwing?
DeepSwing. The yearly plan is $59.99 with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, the monthly plan $9.99, and there is a $149.99 lifetime purchase. Swing Coach costs $119.99 a year or $14.99 a month. Prices vary by country.
Does DeepSwing give voice feedback like Swing Coach?
Yes. Live Coach detects every swing on its own and speaks the key cue before your next ball, also when you start it from an Apple Watch. On top of that you get a replay with the fixes and the full analysis of every swing you keep.
Do I need sensors or a launch monitor for either app?
No. Both work with the phone camera alone. DeepSwing even measures clubhead and ball speed from a face-on slow-motion video, and its launch monitor turns the iPhone itself into one.
