DeepSwing vs Onform: comparison of two golf swing analysis apps

Onform is a coaching platform with 3D and launch monitor data, DeepSwing an AI coach for golfers on their own. Features, Android and price compared.

Updated October 2026 for DeepSwing 3.3 on iPhone and 1.4 on Android.

Onform and DeepSwing both put your golf swing on video, but they answer different questions. Onform asks "what does your coach want to show you?" It is a video coaching platform for teaching pros, academies and players who work with one, with multi-camera recording, launch monitor data and 3D body metrics. DeepSwing asks "what should you fix first, and did it work?" It analyzes the swing on its own, talks to you between balls and builds the practice plan around your biggest fault.

All Onform facts below come from its golf page, pricing page, user guide and App Store listing as of 4 October 2026.

The quick answer: if you teach golf, or you own a launch monitor and want 3D numbers next to the video, Onform is the stronger tool. If you practice on your own and want the app to do the coaching, DeepSwing is the better fit, and it is much stronger on Android. DeepSwing is on the App Store and Google Play with a 7-day free trial on the yearly plan.

Two different jobs

Onform's core is the conversation between coach and player. Coaches get one-to-one and group chat, voice-over on top of your video, an Instructor Cam, saved replies, teams, broadcast collections and an enterprise admin. Players connected to a coach on a Standard or Pro plan can use the app for free. It covers baseball, softball and other sports too, and Onform calls itself a video analysis app, not an AI coach.

DeepSwing does the first part of a coach's job without a coach: it watches the swing, finds the one thing that costs you the most, tells you what to try on the next ball and gives you the drill. If you have a coach, DeepSwing fills the days between lessons. If you don't, it is the closest thing to one in your pocket.

Recording

Onform's Auto-Detect records hands-free from face-on or down-the-line, cuts each swing and files it. Version 4.6.0 in August 2026 added automatic camera-angle detection and better suppression of practice swings. It records up to 240 fps, takes up to four angles at once, works with external cameras and can be started from an Apple Watch, a Bluetooth trigger or a Pocket Radar or Stalker radar. For a teaching bay with several cameras, nothing in this comparison comes close.

DeepSwing gives a single golfer four ways in. 1 Swing arms itself when you stand still at the ball, records, stops after the finish, trims and analyzes. Multi Swing runs a whole range session: pick the view and club once and keep hitting, while each swing is analyzed in the background. Record and Import cover everything else. iPhone films every mode at 120 or 240 fps, and the Apple Watch can start and pause sessions.

Analysis: 3D numbers or a diagnosis

What Onform measures

Onform gives you the tools a coach uses: slow motion, fine scrubbing, drawing, side-by-side and overlay compare, plus tracking aids for hand path, slide and sway, club head tracking (beta) and a drawn swing plane. On newer iPhones there is 2D skeleton tracking.

Its headline feature is markerless 3D from a single face-on video at 120 fps or more: torso and pelvis turn, forward bend, side bend, sway, thrust, lift, X-factor and tempo, plus a kinematic sequence with P1 to P8 markers. Onform published a model card with its accuracy against an OptiTrack lab system: mean errors of about 2 to 5 degrees for turns and bends in its internal test. Reference ranges come from the top ten men and women in the world ranking, with Onform's note that they are context, "not strict targets". The 3D is computed on the device, according to its 3D FAQ. Down-the-line 3D is still announced for a later release.

What you don't get is a verdict. Onform shows you that your pelvis turned 38 degrees; it doesn't tell you that this is your biggest problem or what drill to do about it. That is the coach's job, and the platform assumes there is one.

What DeepSwing measures

DeepSwing finds the six phases, recognizes face-on or down-the-line, and runs more than 20 checks with default bands. Hip turn at the top should sit between 25 and 45 degrees with an iron and between 35 and 55 with the driver. Early extension fails when you lose more than 0.18 shoulder widths of hip depth by the delivery position. Swing plane, over the top, shaft lean and casting are measured from the clubhead path. A Swing Score with a breakdown, a ball-flight link (slice, hook, push, pull, fat, thin) and the "Most important fix" turn that into a decision: work on this one thing next.

So the trade is clear. Onform has the deeper body data and DeepSwing has the diagnosis. A data-minded golfer with a coach may want Onform's 3D; a golfer on their own usually gets further with a clear priority. More on the golf swing coach app page.

Speed and launch monitors

Onform doesn't measure speed from video. It pulls ball and club data from connected launch monitors: Garmin Approach R10, Garmin R50 (since 4.6.0) and the Full Swing KIT, shown right next to each swing. If you already own one of those, that pairing is excellent.

DeepSwing measures clubhead and ball speed at impact from a face-on video, no hardware needed, and keeps a history per club. On iPhone that works in every mode. On Android, use Record or the hands-free Speed button with the rear camera, because the other Android modes film at 60 fps. It won't give you spin or carry; for that you still need a launch monitor. See the golf swing speed page for how it works.

Feedback while you practice

Onform plays each recording back automatically (added in 4.4.0). We found no spoken or haptic coaching cues in its listing or guide.

DeepSwing's Live Coach shows a pose overlay during the swing and speaks afterwards: the score, the most important fix with one thing to do on the next ball, and up to two short tips, using your real left and right. On iPhone it adds haptics and can stream to a second iPhone or iPad, so a coach or friend can watch live with the overlays.

On the course

Onform has no on-course mode. DeepSwing added golf rounds in iPhone 3.3 and Android 1.4: start 9 or 18 holes, find the course by GPS, choose how many practice swings to skip, and every real shot is saved, analyzed in the background and filed under its hole with a Swing Score per hole and per round. The Lock Screen (iPhone) or a notification (Android) shows where you are, and one tap opens the camera.

If you want to see whether your range swing holds up on the course, try it: get DeepSwing for iPhone or Android, start the trial and run a round next time you play nine holes.

Android

This is where the two apps differ most. According to Onform's user guide, Android coaches cannot use Auto-Detect, the launch monitor link, 3D, multi-cam, 2D skeleton tracking, club tracking or external cameras, and recording is manual only. 3D on Android is "coming soon".

DeepSwing's Android app has 1 Swing, Multi Swing, Live Coach, golf rounds, the training plan and speed through Record or the Speed button. Missing on Android are the watch app, the widgets and streaming to a second device. For an Android golfer the choice is easy. The Android swing analyzer page has the details.

Privacy

Onform needs an account (email with a one-time code), backs videos up to its cloud and syncs them across devices. Its privacy policy says data may be deleted after 12 months without payment. DeepSwing analyzes on the phone and doesn't upload your swing videos for it; a video leaves the phone only when you share, export or post it.

Price

Onform has a 14-day free trial without a card. Athlete Basic is free but only useful with a coach. Athlete Standard is 9.99 USD a month or 99.99 USD a year, Athlete Premium (with 3D golf data and four-angle multi-cam) 14.99 USD a month or 149.99 USD a year. Coach plans run from 19.99 to 59.99 USD a month. In the German App Store the athlete Standard plan is 9.99 EUR a month or 99.99 EUR a year.

DeepSwing Pro costs 59.99 EUR a year with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, 9.99 EUR a month, or 149.99 EUR once for Lifetime (eurozone reference prices, October 2026). Recording and the analysis run free; the full results, Live Coach, rounds, compare and export need Pro.

Can you use both?

Yes, and it can make sense. If your coach works in Onform, keep the lessons there. Between lessons, use DeepSwing on the range to see whether the change your coach asked for shows up in the numbers, then export a slow-motion overlay video and send it to your coach. Many golfers see their coach once a month and practice alone the other 29 days, and that is the gap DeepSwing fills.

Which one should you pick?

Pick Onform if you teach golf, run an academy or a bay with several cameras, own a Garmin R10, R50 or Full Swing KIT, or want 3D body metrics with published accuracy and a coach to interpret them.

Pick DeepSwing if you practice on your own, want the app to tell you what to fix first and how, want speed without hardware, like a voice cue between balls, play on Android, or want to check your swing during real rounds.

For most golfers reading this, that second list is the one. Download DeepSwing from the App Store or Google Play, set the phone up face-on and hit ten balls with Multi Swing. If you want to compare, Onform is on the App Store and Google Play. Our overview of the best golf swing analyzer apps in 2026 covers seven more apps.

FAQ

Is Onform good for golfers without a coach?

It works, but you do the analysis yourself: Onform gives you tools, tracking aids and 3D numbers, not a fault list or drills. Without a coach to interpret them, most golfers get more from an app that diagnoses the swing, such as DeepSwing.

Does Onform have AI swing analysis?

It has AI-based tracking: Auto-Detect recording, 2D skeleton tracking, club head tracking and markerless 3D metrics. It doesn't give an automatic score or name your biggest fault.

Does Onform work on Android?

Yes, but with far fewer features. Auto-Detect, 3D, multi-cam, the launch monitor link and skeleton tracking are not available on Android according to Onform's user guide.

Which app is cheaper?

For one golfer, DeepSwing: 59.99 EUR a year against 99.99 EUR for Onform's athlete Standard plan in the eurozone, and DeepSwing also offers a one-time Lifetime purchase. Onform is free for players whose coach pays for a Standard or Pro coach plan.
