Face-On Analysis: Sway, Tilt and Tempo Made Measurable

The face-on (FO) camera angle exposes what down-the-line hides: lateral sway, spine tilt, head movement, weight transfer and release timing. DeepSwing detects the FO perspective automatically and applies its FO-specific check set — so the camera angle you choose stops being a source of wrong feedback.

Sway tracking

01 · Stability

Catch the sway that steals your strike

Lateral hip sway in the backswing moves your low point and turns solid contact into a timing gamble. Face-on tracking measures hip and head displacement in inches across every phase, and flags when your center drifts outside the stable window.

  • Hip sway in measurable units
  • Head movement tracking
  • Low-point stability context
Tilt & transfer

02 · Tilt & Transfer

Spine tilt and weight shift, phase by phase

FO analysis scores your spine tilt at address, top and impact — including the secondary tilt that separates irons from driver — and reads weight transfer through knee and hip markers. You see whether you actually get to your lead side or just think you do.

  • Spine tilt per phase
  • Weight-shift indicators
  • Club-specific tilt targets
Tempo analysis

03 · Tempo

Your tempo ratio, computed automatically

Backswing-to-downswing time ratio is one of golf's most reliable consistency markers — tour pros cluster near 3:1. DeepSwing computes yours on every swing and shows drift when you start rushing from the top under pressure.

  • Automatic 3:1 ratio check
  • Phase timing breakdown
  • Tempo history across sessions

Face the camera

Chest-high camera, square to you, full body in frame — guided by the capture overlay.

2

Swing normally

FO perspective is auto-detected; FO-specific checks activate automatically.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is face-on golf swing analysis best for?

Lateral movement (sway/slide), spine tilt, head stability, weight transfer, release timing and tempo. It's the angle that explains inconsistent contact — pair it with down-the-line for plane and path.

How much hip sway is too much?

A few centimeters of trail-side drift is normal; beyond that, the low point wanders and strikes scatter. DeepSwing measures your displacement and rates it against a stable reference window.

Why does my head move so much in the backswing?

Often it follows excess hip sway or a reverse pivot. FO tracking separates cause from effect by showing hips, spine and head across the same frames.

What tempo should I aim for?

Around 3:1 backswing-to-downswing is the well-documented tour cluster. Your absolute speed can differ — the ratio consistency is what correlates with solid striking.

Can I analyze both FO and DTL in the same session?

Yes — record from either angle any time; DeepSwing detects the perspective per video and applies the matching check set automatically.
