Launch monitor app for AndroidComing to Android

The camera launch monitor for Android.

Almost every phone launch monitor is iPhone only. DeepSwing brings its launch monitor to Android phones, with the same measurement, the same 3D range and the same 18-hole courses, and shows the picture on an Android tablet or straight on a Google TV. It comes as an update to the same app, where the AI Coach is on Android today.

On Android, the launch monitor comes with the next update. The AI Coach is there today.

Google TV: target game on the range

Built for Android cameras

A sharp ball, or a measured streak.

The app runs the camera in its high-speed mode at 240 frames per second. Where the phone allows a short shutter, the app sets it itself. Where it does not, the app measures the streak the ball leaves in the picture: its start, end and width give speed and direction just as well.

  • High-speed mode at 240 fps
  • Short shutter where the phone allows it
  • Streak measurement where it does not

What it measures

Every number and where it comes from.

A launch monitor is only as good as its honesty. So every number says whether it is measured from the video, calculated from the flight or estimated.

NumberWhere it comes from
Ball speedMeasured from the 240 fps video
Launch angleMeasured from the 240 fps video
DirectionMeasured from the 240 fps video
Club speedMeasured when the camera sees the club head
Carry and totalCalculated from the measured launch
Apex and sideCalculated from the measured launch
SpinEstimated from club, speed and launch

Google TV

Straight onto the big screen.

The Android phone measures, a Google TV shows the range, including projectors that run Google TV. No PC, no cables between them, both on the same Wi-Fi. An Android tablet works the same way.

  • Google TV and Google TV projectors
  • Android tablets as the screen
  • Range, courses and every number

Play

Range, courses and games.

Every shot flies on the 3D range with targets and greens, or on full 18-hole courses with weather. Add range games for up to four players and putting on sloped greens.

Cool and steady

Built for long sessions.

240 frames per second is hard work for a phone. The camera slows down while no ball is in the zone and speeds up the moment one is. The range pauses while you look at the camera picture. That keeps the phone cooler.

  • Slower camera without a ball
  • Range pauses when hidden
  • A warning when the camera delivers too few frames

Questions, answered

Is there a launch monitor app for Android?

Camera launch monitors are almost all iPhone only. DeepSwing's launch monitor runs on iPhone and comes to Android with the next update. Hardware units like the Garmin Approach R10 have Android apps, but you need the device.

Which Android phones work?

Phones that film 240 frames per second through the camera API, ideally at 1080p. Most recent Pixel and Galaxy S models can. Some phones, mostly with Samsung firmware, film slow motion only in their own camera app. If the camera delivers too few frames, the app tells you.

Does Android work together with an iPad or iPhone?

No. An Android phone connects to Android tablets and Google TV, an iPhone to an iPad, a Mac and Apple TV.

Do I need a PC?

No. The range, the courses and the games run on the phone, the tablet or the Google TV.

What does the Android launch monitor cost?

The same as on iPhone: 5 free shots every week, unlimited with the Launch Monitor plan. You see prices in the app once the update is out.
